Jackie Ray (Jack) Gregory, age 78 of Springfield, MO, formerly of Tulsa, OK, went home to be with the Lord May 29, 2021 following a brave and graceful battle to live after enduring a heart attack and multiple procedures over seven days.
Jack was born to Clair Raymond Gregory, Jr. and Ruby Maxine Siggins Gregory on February 8, 1943 in Barnsdall, OK. He grew up there and spent many happy days on his grandparents’ cattle ranch a few miles outside of town where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and helping out on the ranch.
Following graduation from Barnsdall High School in 1961, Jack attended the Oklahoma School of Business, Accountancy, Law & Finance where he studied accounting. During that time he started working as a public accountant in his hometown keeping books and preparing tax returns for a number of small businesses, ranchers, and oil producers. After several years, Jack went to work for the Aetna Life and Casualty Company where he used his accounting knowledge to create pension and estate plans for individuals and companies. He later served as the General Agent of the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company in Tulsa, OK and was one of that company’s top agents during the 1970s.
Jack also developed an interest in antiques and jewelry in the late 1970s and spent over 25 years working in that industry owning and operating both wholesale and retail establishments. He eventually returned to the accounting field full-time, founding G&H Tax & Accounting in 2010 and working there alongside several of his family members until his passing.
During his years in Tulsa, Jack served on the board of Christview Christian Church, filled roles as an Elder and Deacon, and taught Sunday school. He held an unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ, and even during the most challenging times in his life, he projected that to his family and those around him. Jack was a generous man who gave of his time, his talent, and his treasure, impacting countless lives throughout the years.
Jack married his first wife, Cordie Fitzgerald Gregory in 1963 and shared two of his four sons with her. In 2003, he married Bich Ngoc Gregory and gained two more sons. He greatly loved them all.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Bich Ngoc Gregory, of the home, his son Robert Gregory and wife Dawnya Hostetler, son Andrew Gregory and wife Lisa Gregory, son Nhan Uyen Huynh and wife Phoebe Nguyen, son Khai Uyen Huynh, sister Jill Clements and brother-in-law Phil Clements, nephew Brent Clements, niece Kyla (Clements) Gonzalez, granddaughter Breanna Hostetler, granddaughter Josie Gregory, many cousins, and innumerable friends.
